PristupačnostOver time, the Department established itself, in the educational, professional and scientific terms, as one of the leading institutions in Croatia in the field of research, design, construction and maintenance of electrical machinery, electric drives and (electrical equipment) of industrial and electrical installations. In addition to its core activity – education – the Department expands and deepens the technical and scientific links with key companies in the economy by taking a number of projects which deal with specific technical problems in the economy. That develops a very intensive “cooperation with economy”, mutually beneficial. In addition to the direct benefits for the economy, the scientific and research staff of the Department develops themselves through direct technical and scientific cooperation in practical problem solving, and acquired knowledge and experiences are integrated in the education process and curriculum. Interrelation between educational, scientific and research activities, particularly through concrete cooperation with the economy, goes so far that we don’t speak and don’t discuss one of the activities without intensively considering the other ones. These activities emerge from each other. This development conditioned the change of the name of the Department in the Department of Electric Machines, Drives and Automation.
As one of the educational-scientific units of FER, the Department is engaged in education and development of future experts in the field of electromechanical energy conversion, conversion of electricity parameters, automatic control of industrial, energy and transportation facilities, and production processes.
The focus of the study is the study of electrical machines and drives, and the management and automation of installations in industry, electrical power engineering and transport. The purpose of the study is the education and training in development, engineering design, production management, commissioning and maintenance of modern electrical equipment, along with acquisition of necessary management knowledge.
Scientific research and technological activities are carried out with the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and in direct cooperation with industry.
Teaching and scientific and research duties at the Department are carries out by 10 professors, 14 teaching assistants and scientific researchers and 4 professional associates.
