Dynamics of Alternative Current Machines

Course Description

An overview of the basic laws of electromechanical energy conversion. Energy balance of an electromechanical converter. General theory of electrical machines. Examples of transient phenomena in the induction motors and synchronous machine. Self and forced oscillations in turbine generators and hydro power machines. Torsional subsynchronous resonance. Variable speed generators. Magnetic bearing of electrical machines.
