Library services

Lending service

Students can loan books for a period of 60 days, with the possibility of loan renewal. For lost publications, students are required to buy the same or another title, in agreement with the librarian. Students are required to return all the literature at the end of each academic year. Doctoral dissertations and master's theses can be loaned for a period of 5 days. Reference collection (encyclopedias, dictionaries and manuals) and magazines can be used exclusively for work in the reading room. The Library offers the possibility of interlibrary loans, i.e. it loans books and magazines for users from other libraries from Croatia or abroad. Interlibrary loans are free for domestic loans, while loans from foreign libraries are charged.

Reservations

Titles which are marked in the catalogue as borrowed can be placed on hold via computer. To place a book on hold, it is necessary to log in to the FER webpage, open Library page, find the desired title in the catalogue and click on the “Place Hold” link and confirm reservation. You will receive an e-mail notification once the book becomes available.

Reference service

Library reference services include:

  • Search of FER Library Catalogue, as well as other catalogues in Croatia and worldwide,
  • Online database and Internet search,
  • Subject search of resources for seminars, undergraduate, master's and doctoral theses and projects,
  • Verification of citations of articles and magazines and their Impact Factors

Interlibrary Loan Services

Interlibrary loan services are intended for users who require materials (books, copies) kept in other libraries in Croatia and abroad.

Interlibrary loan services are directly available to all registered users of the FER Library, while others may submit their requests through their libraries.

Loan requests are submitted through the Library e-mail.

Interlibrary loan periods for items from libraries abroad are two weeks, while the loan period for items borrowed from the NUL is three weeks. Users generally access and use interlibrary loan items in the Library, while the requested copies remain in permanent ownership of the users.

The library which requested and received an interlibrary loan on behalf of its user is fully responsible for the return of the loaned item(s). Users may use materials acquired through interlibrary loan services only for the purposes of private study in accordance with the Copyright and Related Rights Act (Official Gazette – 167(2003), Article 82).

Bibliometric Services

Bibliometrics is a method of quantitative study of sets of bibliographic records of human creation. It is primarily used for evaluation of research results. Bibliometric indicators, such as the number of articles published in international scientific journals, number of papers in international indexed publications and citation reports are among the criteria for evaluation of research results.

Users can ask the Library for reports with the following information:

  • Number of papers published in the indexed online databases (Web of Science, Scopus and Current Contents),
  • Citation reports for papers published in online databases (Web of Science and Scopus)
  • Impact factor annual report for individual journals.

Users should attach the list of all published works when submitting requests for reports. Requests can be submitted in person or via e-mail.
