Short description of project

The goal of this project is to develop a smart, efficient and flexible inverter (acronym SEFI) for control of electrical machines. Coordinator of this project, company “Rimac Automobili d.o.o.”, has huge experience in design of high performance electric cars and bicycles. The research group from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering led by Professor Seršić has experience in design of self-balancing and smart powered electric vehicles, and huge expertise in the field of advanced digital signal processing with applications to smart motor control. Cooperation of the two research and development teams will result in a novel, highly efficient and flexible motor controller. Specific goals of the project are to develop a smart voltage modulator with continuous transition between several linear and non-linear operation modes. Furthermore, statistically reliable and robust estimators of rotor angles, stator current vectors and motor moment will be developed. To implement field oriented control, a robust control algorithm will be employed. Final result of the project will be a novel, vector based motor controller that over-performs the competition due to use of advanced signal processing methods. It fits the specific development needs of the “Rimac Automobili d.o.o.”, as well as the research interests of the Faculty team.
