Short description of project

In process industry process control systems (PCS) play a key role to guarantee optimal control and monitoring of a process. All procedures in a process can be controlled, monitored and altered by PCS. Montelektro is a firm that has developed a PCS that has been installed all over the world in various industries, mostly in breweries and steel plants. That has determined the market and the commercial potential of the product. Architecture of the PCS is based on modules that perform basic functions. The main goal of the project is the development of a new application programming interface (API) for configuration of the PCS. API will enable the user to configure components, units, parameters and phases of a process, reading/writing to SQL database and programmable logical devices (PLC) by means of OPC connection. The second element that will enhance the PCS is the control and monitoring of process recipes. A complex process is usually divided in functional units. For every unit a recipe is defined by which that unit works. A new component “Recipe Control” will also be developed during this project, and it will show current state of a loaded recipe in any unit, which operations have finished, which operation is currently executing, and which operations still need to be executed in the current recipe. Furthermore, “Recipe Control” would enable online change of recipe parameters which would give a more flexible control of a process. New components of the PCS will be developed in C# programming language.
