Short description of project

Connection of renewable power sources and utility grid by means of power converters with enhanced efficiency is important problem, recognized in EU and in other countries (USA, Japan). The task of the power converter is to adjust fuel cell DC voltage to the utility grid requirements. The efficiency of the whole system is of great importance. On the efficiency of the power converter can be influenced in several ways; by selecting optimal converter topologies, by selecting appropriate power semiconductors (e.g. SiC technology) and by choosing appropriate control algorithms. Investigation of renewable power source – power converter interaction is the key issue for reaching satisfactory total efficiency.
