Short description of project
The goal of the project „Averaging mirrors for passive optical networks based on self-seeded semiconductor optical amplifiers“ is to demonstrate a new type of optical source that is capable to simultaneously emit independent modulated light signals on independent wavelengths. The key innovation is hidden behind the averaging mirror that is capable to significantly improve performance of communication system compared to currently available solutions. The component should be used in wavelength division multiplexed passive optical networks (WDM-PON) that, in future, potentially promise lowest cost and highest bandwidth per user.
