Croatian Academy of Science and Art celebrated 158. anniversary in Monday, 29. of April 2019. Following the celebration, the most prestigious science and art awards for 2018. in Croatia were awarded. 

In the technical science field, Associate professor Hrvoje Pandžić was awarded for 20 scientific publications in internacional journals connected in one framework titled: "Increase of power system operation efficiency and integration of renewable energy source using energy storage."

Congratulations to Hrvoje!

Dr. Sc. Hrvoje Pandžić earned a Ph.D. degree in 2011. He has been doint research in the area of ​​energy, in particular various aspects of the integration of renewable energy sources, and has developed a collaboration with numerous foreign and domestic scientists. Hrvoje is a Coordinator of the project from the Horizon 2020 ERA-NET program and the principal researcher of two Croatian Science Foundation projects.

The Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences award was awarded for his work "Increase of power system operation efficiency and integration of renewable energy source using energy storage.". This is an opus of 20 scientific papers that make up one scientific unit, of which 18 were published in Q1 category journals, and the prof. Pandžić is the first author of five, and second author of nine papers. The papers presents the results of scientific research related to the efficiency of the power system operation in conditions of uncertainty and instability and provides solutions to the increase of the share of renewable sources using energy storage.Part of his research has found its application in the industry sector.

Department of Energy and Power Systems was founded at the 129th Faculty Council’s Regular Session of the Technical College University of Zagreb, on Tuesday June 26, 1934. Department of Energy and Power Systems studies and innovates in the fields of generation, transmission, distribution and use of electrical energy, energy efficiency, high voltage engineering, smart grids, energy management, nuclear engineering and safety, electricity markets, and electric vehicles. Throughout the years, the Department has become the leading authority in the field of electrical power engineering in the region, maintaining long-term collaboration with the industry sector. Furthermore, it is recognized through its research activities and a large number of published scientific papers in JCR journals, as well as numerous national and international research projects. In total, the Department has 52 employees (16 Professors – 9 Full, 4 Associate and 3 Assistant) and offers substantial educational and R&D facilities, including five Research Laboratories, six department teaching halls and a department library. Through its activities, the Department has developed valuable international collaboration with many research institutions around the world. Researchers of the Department are currently involved in 3 HORIZON 2020 projects, 2 bilateral projects, 1 Erasmus+ project, 5 projects financed by the Croatian Science Foundation, as well as the principal investigators of a number of industry-funded projects.
