On January 26, 2022, professor Davor Grgic (FER) participated in a conference titled ''World of Energy—Energy Security in an Era of Fast Decarbonization'' which was held at the Westin Hotels & Resorts Zagreb. The conference was also attended by: the Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal Frans Timmermans; the Croatian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Tomislav Coric; the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenkovic; the CEO of E.ON Hrvatska Andreas Rörig; the owner and president of the board of the Energia Naturalis Group Pavao Vujnovac; the President of INA Grupa's Management Board Sándor Fasimon; the President of the Management Board at HOPS Croatian Transmission System Operator Ltd. Tomislav Plavsic; the President of the Management Board at the Croatian Hydrocarbon Agency Marijan Krpan; and the CEO at the Energy Institute Hrvoje Požar Dražen Jakšić.
Opening the conference, Frans Timmermans reaffirmed Croatia's ambitions to decarbonise the domestic energy #sector in line with the EC's "Ready for 55" legislative package, which envisages significantly accelerating the rate at which greenhouse gas emissions are reduced. Following this welcome address, a panel (attended by Ćorić, Rörig, Vujnovac and Fasimon) was held on the topic of how to align these plans with the energy security imperative. Later, a second panel (attended by Plavšić, Krpan, Jakšić and Grgić) was held on the topic "Energy Security and Investments".
