Faculty of electrical engineering and computing, University of Zagreb - The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER) as a part of University of Zagreb started its independent existence in 1956. FER employs 46 full professors, 42 associate professors, 33 assistant professors and 2 other lecturers, 40 assistants and 106 junior research associates and 44 other researchers. The unit responsible for this project is Department of Power Systems (ZVNE), in tight cooperation with the Department of telecommunications (ZTEL). Besides educational energy related programmes for undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students, it has been actively involved for many years in analysis and establishing of new strategies for energy sector and power system development for the Republic of Croatia. It has vast experience in preparing medium and long-term electricity generation expansion plans for power systems, performing comparisons of energy, economic and environmental characteristics of different options for electrical power generation, preparation of energy efficiency studies and energy savings and renewable energy sources (RES) utilization. In these endeavors, it has successfully cooperated with the Croatian government, with power utilities, and with organizations.

Politecnico di Milano, DIpartimento di Elettronica e Informazione - the “Dipartimento di Elettronica e Informazione” (DEI), is one of the largest university departments in Europe, hosting 170 permanent faculty members (full, associate, and assistant professors), 45 technical and administrative staff, 117 Ph.D. students and 85 short-term researchers. The orientation towards the future goes together with a tradition of excellence matured in over 60 years of activity at the leading edge of research in Systems and Control, Telecommunications, Electronics, and Information Technology in Italy. Relationship with the industry is historically important for the Politecnico di Milano university (which was born out of the need of Lombardy's industry for technical staff), and it has a central role in the Department’s strategic plans. Projects developed in collaboration with the industry cater for over the 65% of the Department’s budget (around 10M€ per year). Almost 40% of these projects are totally funded by the industry, while the remaining 25% are partially supported by public bodies, mainly by the EU.
