The University of Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, in collaboration with IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES), successfully hosted the 2024 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Europe (ISGT EUROPE 2024) conference. Held in Dubrovnik, Croatia, from October 14-17, the conference brought together close to 600 participants from academia, industry, and research, positioning the Department of Energy and Power Systems at the forefront of smart grid technology advancements.
With generous support from Croatian Transmission system operator HOPS, Pro Integris, RTDS Technologies, Professio Energia, and Imperix, ISGT EUROPE 2024 featured a comprehensive program, including keynote lectures, panel discussions, tutorials, and technical sessions.

- Keynote Speakers:
- Dr. Damir Novosel from Quanta Technology LLC addressed "Sustainable Electrical Energy Delivery Solutions";
- Prof. Vladimir Terzija from Newcastle University discussed "Data-Driven Solutions Supporting Future Resilient Power and Energy Systems"; and
- Prof. Lina Bertling Tjernberg from the Royal Institute of Technology Stockholm presented on "AI-Based Machine Learning for Asset Management."
- Engaging Sessions: Attendees had access to 4 panels, 8 special sessions, 3 tutorials, 51 paper sessions, a dynamic poster session, and a āJob Fairā designed to foster industry connections and career opportunities.
- Technical Visits: Participants visited HPP Zavrelje (2 MW) and HPP Dubrovnik (2x126 MW) as well as the 220/110/35/20(20) kV PLAT substation for an in-depth view of regional energy infrastructure.
