On December 19, 2022, another traditional event took place at Department that makes us recognizable within FER and beyond. Since 1982, the members and friends of our Department organized a sweepstake for European and World Soccer Championships, making such events even more interesting and fun. After the championship, at the traditional party, the envelopes with predictions are open and points are awarded upon a scheme designed by our doyens such as prof. Hrvoje Požar. The sweepstake did not take place only during the war years 1992 and 1994. After this 19th edition, our retired senior laboratory technician M.Sc. Radoslav Zelić still leads the eternal list, while the best predictor this year was prof. Ivan Rajšl. This year, 14 participants guessed the world champion (one of the questions), and as the employees of our Department have a big heart, the winnings were donated to a charity.
