2022 IEEE PES GM held

After two years of online meetings, this year the IEEE PES General Meeting was held in person in Denver, CO. Our Department was very busy at the meeting. Our PhD student Karlo Šepetanc delivered two talks. Besides presenting his IEEE Transactions on Power System paper Convex Second-order Taylor Approximation of AC Power Flows: A Unit Commitment Study, he delivered a talk on Solving Bilevel Power System Problems Using Deep Convolutional Neural Networks at the panel Using Data Analytics to Improve Energy Storage Modeling, Dispatch, and Valuation organized by Di Wu.

Hrvoje Pandžić gave a talk on Energy Storage Participation in Reactive and Proactive Distribution-level Markets at the panel Energy Storage Analytics and Controls: Technical Challenges, Recent Research and Software Tools. This panel was organized by Tu Nguyen. Additionally, Hrvoje Pandžić co-organized the panel Stacking Revenue Streams with Energy Storage with Kenneth Bruninx-

Igor Kuzle participated in several IEEE PES Governing Boards meetings where he presented activities of PES chapters in IEEE Region 8 (Europe, Middle East, and Africa). At the meeting, the Board  accepted the PES activity plans and initiatives for the next year.

We had a great time, reconnected to a number of colleagues and learned on the upcoming topics in our community. See you next year in Orlando, FL!
