Rest in Peace Professor Srđan Babić

Our retired Professor Srđan Babić, PhD, died on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at the age of 88. On behalf of our Department, we express our deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and associates.

Professor Babić's final farewell will be on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. at the cemetery Krematorij.

Srđan Babić graduated from the Real High School in Rijeka in 1953, and from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing University of Zagreb, Department of Energy and Power Systems, in 1961. He received his master's degree in 1972 in the field of analysis of internal overvoltages in power networks, and his doctorate in the field of power system stability in 1985. After completing his studies, he was employed at our Department as an assistant in the subject of Power Transmission. In 1973, he was elected to the position of lecturer, in 1986 to the position of assistant professor, and in 1992 to the position of associate professor. He taught the courses Electric Power Networks and Electric Power Systems and Networks, as well as the courses Analysis of High-Voltage Networks and Stability of Power Systems at the postgraduate level. He is a co-author of a university textbook and several teaching texts, the author or co-author of 15 original scientific papers, 24 papers published in the proceedings of scientific and professional meetings, and a certain number of professional studies and reports. He supervised 14 Master's theses and two Doctoral dissertations. He participated in international and domestic scientific projects. He was among our first authors in IEEE journals.
