 Project meetings:

  • 7.9.2011. Final project meeting with the UPCT team at UPCT in Cartagena, Spain. Attended by Nina Skorin-Kapov (FER), Pablo Pavón-Mariño (UPCT), Ramon Aparicio-Pardo (UPCT) and Maria Belen Garcia-Manrubia (UPCT).
  • 8.7.2011. A project meeting at UPCT, Cartagena, Spain, co-located with the 12th IEEE International Conference on High Performance Switching and Routing HPSR 2011 (4.-6.7.2011.) and W-FIERRO workshop (7.-8.7.2011), both hosted by UPCT. Attended: Nina Skorin-Kapov (FER), Pablo Pavón-Mariño (UPCT), Ramon Aparicio-Pardo (UPCT) and Maria Belen Garcia-Manrubia (UPCT). The topics included ongoing multi-hour virtual topology planning and preparation of the OFC paper.
  • 1.7.2011. A project meeting at KTH, co-located with the 13th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks ICTON 2011, 28.6.-2.7.2011. in Stockholm, Sweden. It was attended by Nina Skorin-Kapov (FER), Marija Furdek (FER), Lena Wosinska (KTH), Jiajia Chen (KTH), Paolo Monti (KTH), Amornrat Jirattigalachote (KTH) and Anna Tzanakaki (AIT). Ongoing efforts regarding attack-aware RWA with included survivability mechanisms and potential paper submissions were discussed, as well as ideas for further collaboration between FER and KTH.
  • 16.5.2011. A project meeting held at KTH between the KTH and FER teams. Attended: Nina Skorin-Kapov (FER), Marija Furdek (FER), Lena Wosinska (KTH), Jiajia Chen (KTH), Paolo Monti (KTH) and Amornrat Jirattigalachote (KTH). The main focus of the meeting was on revising and preparing the final version of the Optical Switching and Networking journal paper.
  • 9.2.2011. A project meeting with the KTH and UPCT team was co-located with the 15th International Conference on Optical Network Design and Modeling in Bologna, Italy. Attended: Nina Skorin-Kapov (FER), Lena Wosinska (KTH), Paolo Monti (KTH) and Pablo Pavón-Mariño (UPCT). The main topics included preparation of the paper on attack-aware wavelength assignment submitted to European Journal on Operational Research in June, and the invited paper for the conference ICTON 2011.
  • 10.12.2010. A project meeting with the KTH team was co-located with Asia Communications and Photonics Conference and Exhibition (ACP 2010) in Shanghai, China. Atended: Nina Skorin-Kapov (FER), Lena Wosinska (KTH), Jiajia Chen (KTH) and Amornrat Jirattigalachote (KTH). The main topic was the preparation of the extended version of the paper for submission to the special edition of the Optical Switching and Networking journal.
  • 3.7.2010. Project meeting held at KTH, in Stockholm, Sweden, co-located with the post-ICTON workshop hosted by KTH from 2.-4.7.2010. It was attended by Nina Skorin-Kapov (FER), Lena Wosinska (KTH), Jiajia Chen (KTH), Amornrat Jirattigalachote (KTH) and Paolo Monti (KTH). The main topic of the meeting were new project proposals and final preparation of the ACP paper submitted at the end of July 2010.
  • 27.6.2010. A project meeting was co-located with the 12th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON 2010) in Munich, Germany. The meeting was attended by Nina Skorin-Kapov (FER), Lena Wosinska (KTH), Jiajia Chen (KTH), Paolo Monti (KTH) and Anna Tzanakaki (AIT).

 

Research visits:

  • 1.-8.9.2011. Research visit of Nina Skorin-Kapov to UPCT, Cartagena, Spain. A joint paper on multihour virtual topology planning was prepared and submitted to conference OFC 2012 at the end of September.
  • 21.2.-20.5.2011. Research visit of Nina Skorin-Kapov to UPCT, Cartagena, Spain where ongoing joint work on multihour virtual topology planning was conducted.
  • 14.2.-31.7.2011. Long term research visit of Marija Furdek to KTH, Stockholm, Sweden where attack-aware network planning framework was further extended with new algorithms and cost analysis of different solutions.
  • 1.–19.11.2010. Marija Furdek visited AIT, Athens, Greece. The physical limitations of the maximum number of available wavelengths per fiber were added to the existing model. We also began to work on including network survivability mechanisms into attack-aware network planning.
  • 7.–23.10.2010. Nina Skorin-Kapov visited UPCT, Cartagena, Spain to extend the ongoing work on attack-aware wavelength assignment and virtual topology reconfiguration.
  • 26.4.–13.5.2010. Marija Furdek visited KTH, Stockholm, Sweden, where she presented the ongoing work on wavelength assignment to limit the propagation of in-band jamming attacks. This was a three-way visit: FER-KTH-AIT because Konstantinos Georgakilas from AIT also visited KTH and initiated work on applying attack-aware routing schemes to dynamic traffic provisioning. We continued our work in applying metaheuristics to the power equalization placement problem initiated in March.
  • 25.4.–23.5.2010. Nina Skorin-Kapov visited UPCT, Cartagena, Spain. Additional ideas were discussed regarding attack-aware planning via wavelength assignment to minimize crosstalk effects.
  • 8.–27.3.2010. Amornrat Jirattigalachote from KTH visited FER. We initiated work on the power equalization placement problem with the goal of limiting the propagation of jamming attacks.
  • 1.10.–23.11.2009. Ramon Aparicio Pardo from UPCT visited FER to  begin work on ILP formulations for the problem of attack-aware wavelength assignment aimed at limiting in-band jamming attack propagation.

  • W-FIERRO 2011 - 1st Workshop "Future Internet: Efficiency in high-speed networks",  Cartagena, Spain, July 7-8, 2011. Attended by N. Skorin-Kapov, P. Pavón-Mariño, R. Aparicio-Pardo and M. B. Garcia-Manrubia. Nina Skorin-Kapov gave invited talk entitled "Attack-Aware Planning for Transparent Optical Networks".
