Maja Matijasevic is a Professor in the Department of Telecommunications, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb, Croatia. She received her Dipl.-Ing. (1990), M.Sc. (1994), and Ph.D. (1998) degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Zagreb and the M.Sc. in Computer Engineering (1997) from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, LA, USA. She was also a visiting researcher at the Graz University in Austria and the Center for Advanced Computer Studies at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in the USA.
Professor Matijasevic’s research interests include quality of service (QoS) and quality of experience (QoE) for multimedia services in IP-based next generation networks, with particular focus on session negotiation, adaptation, and mobility. She is a principal researcher in the project "Human Centric Communications in Smart Networks (HUTS)", funded by the Croatian Science Foundation. She previously led one Croatian national research project (“Content Delivery and Mobility of Users and Services in New Generation Networks”) and a research program (“Advanced Networks and Services for Information Society”), and she has been a principal investigator in several research projects in collaboration with industry. She participated in two European Science Foundation (ESF) Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) actions: Action IC0906 “Wireless Networking for Moving Objects (WiNeMO)” and the COST Action IC0703 “Data Traffic Monitoring and Analysis (TMA)”.
She has over 100 journal and conference publications, and she has coauthored several books and book chapters. She has served as an evaluator for the European Framework Programme (FP7) and Horizon 2020 research projects. She has served as a TPC member, TPC (co)chair, and reviewer in international conferences, and as an editor and guest editor (Journal of Intelligent & Robotic Systems, Journal of Communications Software and Systems, Infocommunications Journal, Telecommunication Systems, IEEE Communications Magazine, IEEE Trans. on Multimedia).
She is a member of IEEE and currently serves as Vice-Chair of IEEE Croatia Section.
