Project overview

3D model reconstruction from the image collection is one of the main computer vision tasks, a branch of artifical intelligence in the area of computer science that studies a methodology of extracting information from digital imagery. Obtaining high quality 3D models is not anymore limited to processing using desktop computers or high-performance laptops. Modern and powerful smartphones and tablets, i.e. mobile platforms, as well open the possibilities of defining and implementation of novel 3D reconstruction methods. The mobile platforms' approach has two main steps. The first part refers to the implementation of the efficient 3D reconstruction algorithms optimized for the mobile platforms. Extending the mobile platforms' capabilities in terms of 3D scanning is significant both from the research point of view, but also for the potential industrial applications. Therefore, the aim of the second part of this work is to measure the anthropometrical measurements using 2D and 3D mobile platform data. Antropometrical measurements are of great importance to a wider group of users as the antropometry plays an important role today in industrial and cloth design, ergonometry, medicine and architecture where the statistical data on the body dimensions' distribution in the population are used to optimize different productions and applications.
