PLADAT: PLACEMENT DATING FOR STUDENTS (PROJECT 2)

PLADAT_2

Description

One of the most useful experiences that a student can do while learning new skills is to apply them in real case scenario. Finding an internship not only provides a safe environment in which apply the theory learned in school, but it can also give the student a different outlook on the career he or she is taking up. Reaching beyond the toy examples that are often provided in the academic courses can lead to a renovated will to learn new and exciting technologies that will surely enrich the student's wealth of experiences, while also giving meaning to the long hours spent studying in the university's library. Unfortunately, finding a good internship that fits the skills of the student while also providing growth opportunities is quite a tedious process

PlaDat is a project proposed by Julian M. Bass, Senior Lecturer of Software Engineering at the University of Salford, Manchester, UK. This project creates a matching service to connect placement students with potential employers, in a similar way to dating services. The main objective of PlaDatis to provide a safe way for students to get the best possible job and for companies to find the most suitable people for their specific job. It allows making this whole placement process easier and more efficient for both students and employers.
