Životopis
Mario Vašak (rođen 13. kolovoza 1980. u Bjelovaru) je redoviti profesor u trajnom zvanju na Zavodu za automatiku i računalno inženjerstvo Sveučilišta u Zagrebu Fakultet elektrotehnike i računarstva (FER) te vodi Laboratorij za sustave obnovljivih izvora energije u sklopu FERa. Njegovi istraživački interesi su u domeni prediktivnog upravljanja dinamičkim sustavima s primjenama na sustave iz niskougljičnog energetskog sektora: vjetroagregate, energetski učinkovite zgrade, mikromreže, vodoopskrbne sustave i elektrificiran željeznički promet. Glavni je izumitelj US patenta za upravljanje vjetroagregatima otporno na kvarove generatora. Osmislio je koncept hijerarhijskog i modularnog gospodarenja energijom u zgradama s integriranim mikromrežama za omogućavanje njihova ekonomski optimalnog međudjelovanja. Vodio je ili surađivao na nekoliko istraživačkih projekata financiranih sredstvima Europske unije ili nacionalnim sredstvima vezanih uz implementaciju navedenog koncepta te njegovu provjeru od razine upravljanja potrošnjom u pojedinim zgradama do razine koordinacije sustava distribucije električne energije i vode u okruženju naprednog (pametnog) grada (EFRR ENHEMS-Buildings, HRZZ 3CON, FP7 UrbanWater, FP7 DYMASOS, EFRR FER-KIET). Koordinator je projekta 3Smart (Smart Building – Smart Grid – Smart City) financiranog iz EFRR kroz Program transnacionalne suradnje Dunav. Autor je više od 30 radova u međunarodnim znanstvenim časopisima te ukupno više od 150 međunarodno recenziranih radova, sa sveukupno više od 1000 citata isključujući samocitiranja u bazi Web od Science. Bio je predsjednik Odjela za upravljačke sustave Hrvatske sekcije IEEE u periodu 2014.-2017.
