From November 24th to 26th, 2008., Tempus Kisek project partners had the opportunity to meet in Paderborn, Germany, the historical city with a 1200 years of history, combined with the modern architecture and one of the biggest computer museums.

We were guests of the University of Paderborn, Faculty of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Mathematics, our Kisek project grantholders. This was an opportunity to learn more about the experience of our EU partner, in education, cooperation of academia and industry. We were given insight to competence centers established at the UPB, as examples of a succesful SE cooperation to provide us with help for further establishing of our SE competence centers.

Our hosts were colleagues from:

  • University of Paderborn in general
  • s-Lab - Software Quality Lab
  • c-Lab - Cooperative Computing & Communication Laboratory

The topics presented by the UPB and discussed on the meeting were:

  • Research strategies at UPB (Prof. Dr. W. Schäfer, Vice-president of UPB)
  • Studying in Paderborn – Facts and Figures (B. Schürrle, Head of the International Office at UPB)
  • Practical research at UPB: Competence Center s-lab (M. Meyer, Director, s-lab)

  • Practical research at UPB: Competence Center c-lab (Prof. Dr. F.-J. Rammig, Executive Board of Directors c-lab, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Mathematics, UPB)

The project partners from Croatia and Sweden have presented the current status in the project, mainly targeting the establishment of Software Engineering competence centers in Croatia, with the more concrete proposals. The presentations were done by:
