ADRION TRAINEE

ADRION Joint Transnational Master in Renewable Energy (ADRION TRAINEE)

ADRION Joint Transnational Master in Renewable Energy (ADRION TRAINEE) is a 2-year Joint Master's degree programme with 120 ECTS designed with support of the Interreg Adrion funding programme. The partner universities implementing the programme are: University of Patras (Greece, the programme coordinator), IUAV University of Venice (Italy), University of Zagreb (Croatia), Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna (Italy), Algebra Bernays University (Croatia), University of Novi Sad (Serbia), International University of Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and University of Tirana (Albania). Within University of Zagreb the master programme is performed at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER).

ADRION TRAINEE plays a significant role in establishing the foundation for increased cooperation between the EU and IPA countries and shows a collective effort to promote sustainable development and renewable energy adoption, benefiting both regions and contributing to a greener future. It aims to foster a cultural and mental shift towards renewable energy adoption, addressing challenges and maximizing benefits through parallel processes of technology development, academic research, capacity building and policy design.

FER is participating in the ADRION TRAINEE programme execution in its second, third and fourth semester with teaching staff from its LARESSGLab and LESUEP research laboratories. In the second semester FER runs the study module Renewable Energy Systems Engineering with the focus put on optimization, estimation and control in renewable energy systems and elaborated topics of energy storage, power conversion and flexible loads management. The other study module executed in the second semester of the programme is Planning and Policy for Renewable Energy which is run at IUAV University of Venice. Both modules have joint first semester on renewable energy basics and chemical technologies in renewable energy at the University of Patras while the third semester gives an opportunity for distant learning through a sequence of elective courses at the other involved universities. The fourth semester combines an internship and master thesis writing.
