Admission to the doctoral study programme at FER is announced through a public call for applicants. The general eligibility requirement includes a previous university Master level diploma (300 ECTS credits) or an equivalent Diploma in Engineering (minimum four years) in the fields of Electrical Engineering or Computing, with a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 5-point grading scale) or equivalent.
Applicants holding a foreign diploma must provide the formal decision on academic recognition of foreign higher education qualifications issued by the University of Zagreb. As this process takes time, prospective students are encouraged to apply well in advance.
Other criteria include the applicant’s interest in the scientific research, scientific publications, and the quality of the research proposal. An interview with the applicant is an obligatory part of the admission procedure.
Tuition and costs
The tuition must be paid when enrolling in each of the six semesters, in equal portions of the total cost. In the case of intermission, a student who continues the study programme will pay the remaining costs at the going rate for the cohort of doctoral students with whom he or she aligns.
The tuition does not cover the cost of printing the graduation certificate (Doctoral diploma), which is determined by the University of Zagreb at the time of graduation.
