FERConnect, the third gathering of FER alumni, was a celebration of the global success of FER's roboticists. During the event, alumni and guests were presented with the excellent results of the FER Alumni Foundation and a new application for mentoring.

The award-winning solution of FER's roboticists, who secured first place at the prestigious international robotics competition MBZIRC in Abu Dhabi, was presented with a short documentary film, a presentation, and a panel discussion.

The mentoring application, presented by the President of the Alumni Board, Mladen Pejković, and the member of the Alumni Board Zlatka Tečec Ribarić, aims to encourage the career progress of FER graduates (alumnae) and current FER students by providing individual mentoring by experienced FER alumni, transferring key experiences and knowledge to future holders of technological development of Croatia.

FER's team surpassed global competitors in the competition's task of creating a solution for unmanned aerial vehicles and ships to perform complex tasks, including teams from MIT, Korea's KAIST, Beijing Institute of Technology, and Lockheed Martin.

The winning team, composed of experts from the Laboratory for Robotics and Intelligent Control Systems (LARICS) and the Laboratory for Underwater Systems and Technologies (LABUST), under the mentorship of Professor Stjepan Bogdan and Professor Nikola Mišković, led by Barbara Arbanas Ferreira, PhD, achieved remarkable success.

Team members Barbara Arbanas Ferreira, Matko Orsag, Robert Milijaš, and Matko Batoš, joined an interesting panel discussion moderated by a member of the FER Alumni Board, Josip Ćesić, and conveyed details about their success.

"We are extremely pleased to have been given the opportunity to share and celebrate our achievements with our alumni community. This victory is no small achievement and we are pleased to be recognized as such. We hope that our presentation has been thought-provoking, inspiring and potentially opened new doors for cooperation because the technological solutions developed during the MBZIRC competition are very valuable and it would be a shame not to continue their development," Arbanas Ferreira emphasized.

The President of the FER Alumni Board Mladen Pejković reflected on the results of the Board's initiatives and the success of the FER team and said: "First of all, I want to thank the many donors in the FER Alumni Foundation. Students with a challenging financial background received such a strong incentive for successful studying. The thanks also go to all colleagues who, after graduating from FER and years of successful careers, expressed their willingness to mentor their younger colleagues through the mentoring application presented today. Today's celebration of the victory of the FER team at the world competition in robotics shows how  potential can be realized if we put the wind behind the talents of this faculty."

"I would like to invite colleagues to apply as mentors or mentees and, in a joint effort, make the FER alumni mentoring program a success! Strong encouragement goes to experienced FER alumnae who feel that they can help younger generations to actively participate in the programme. Signing up for the application is simple and available on the FER website," said Tečec Ribarić.

The registration requirements are presented at the link here.

The President of the Board of the FER Alumni Foundation, Igor Strejček, presented the results of the Foundation in fundraising, which began in March of this year. The initial goal of 20,000 euros was achieved unexpectedly quickly. Thanks to corporate and private donors, the Foundation was able to secure funds that will enable the awarding of the first scholarships to FER students with financial challenges already this year. Encouraged by the exceptional response of donors, the continuation of strengthening of the Foundation was announced.
