Professors at FER among world's...

A research group from Stanford University in California (USA) published this year's study on scientific citations. This list ranks 2% of the world's most influential scientists or about 180,000 of the most cited scientists in all disciplines.

Two lists were published: the list of the most influential scientists for the entire scientific career and the list of the most influential scientists for 2021.

The list of the most influential scientists in the world for their whole scientific career includes 61 Croatian scientists, two of whom are from FER. Head of the Center for Artificial Intelligence, academician prof. Sven Lončarić, PhD, ranked among the 2% most cited scientists in the world in the field of "Artificial Intelligence and Image Processing", while prof. Hrvoje Pandžić, PhD, is among the 2% most cited scientists in the field of "Energy". The list of the most influential scientists in the world for 2021 includes 91 Croatian scientists, three of whom are from FER: academician prof. Sven Lončarić, PhD, in the field of "Artificial Intelligence and Image Processing", prof. Hrvoje Pandžić, PhD, in the field of "Energy" and prof. Damir Žarko, PhD, in the field of "Electrical & Electronic Engineering".

The study used data from the Scopus database, which measures the impact of scientists until the end of 2021. The study, which classifies scientists in 22 scientific fields and 176 branches, analyzed citations in the period from 1996 to 2021 and is based on a complex model that uses six standardized metrics of scientific productivity: a total number of citations, Hirsch's h-index, Schreiber's Hm-index revised by co-author, single author, single or first author and number of article citations by single, first or last author.
