Professors of our Department of Energy and Power Systems (ZVNE), Prof. Željko Tomšić, PhD, and Prof. Davor Grgić, PhD, were appointed as Croatian representatives to the Program Committee for the Framework Program for Research and Innovation - Horizon Europe and the Research and Training Program of the European Atomic Energy Community for the period 2021 - 2025.
They were appointed on July 28, 2022, by the Minister of Science and Education, Prof. Radovan Fuchs, PhD. The members of the Program Committee are officially appointed by the Ministry of Science and Education, who are responsible for monitoring the implementation of the Horizon Europe Program and are intermediaries between the European Commission and the stakeholders of the national funding system. The members of the Program Committee are experts and representatives with many years of experience in the respective field.
For the area of Climate, Energy and Mobility (including related missions and partnerships) was appointed:
- Prof. Željko Tomšić, PhD, University of Zagreb, Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Expert.
Among the representatives of the Republic of Croatia in the compositions of the Program Committees of the Research and Training Program of the European Atomic Energy Community for the period 2021-2025, complementing Horizon Europe, the following was appointed for the field of nuclear fission:
- Prof. Davor Grgić, Ph.D., University of Zagreb, Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Expert.
The tasks of the members of the Program Committee are listed in the Decision itself, the most important of which are as follows.
- Regular participation in the meetings of the relevant composition of the Program Committee and preparation of reports on their results
- Participation in the preparation and representation of the position of the Republic of Croatia within its own expertise on specific issues in the relevant composition of the Program Committee,
- Participation in the preparation of strategic and operational documents of the Ministry related to the improvement of the participation of the Republic of Croatia in the Horizon Europe Program,
- Preparation of national proposals, amendments and additions to the relevant work program,
- Promotion of the interests of the Croatian research and innovation community in the relevant area at the national and European levels.
