Course Description

Structure of modern electric drives. Characteristics of electromechanical and electric power converters for electric drives. Characteristics of working mechanisms. Laws of motion of electric drives. Basic term, standards and regulation of protection in explosive atmosphere ATEX 95 and 137. Mechanical and explosive Ex e, Ex d, Ex p and Ex nA types of protection for industrial plants. Electric drives for explosive atmosphere. Criteria for selection of drive components: motors, converters, transformers. Drive installation, testing and commissioning. Examples. Equipment certification. Basics of risk assessment of drive applications in explosive atmospheres. Electric drives for thermal power plants. Criteria for selection of electric motors and components of the drive. Possibilities for saving energy by using regulated electric drives. Diagnostics of electric drives.
