Course Description

This course introduces topics relevant for safety of railway traffic and their influence and importance for safety improvement. Analysis of state-of-the-art systems for railway traffic control, based on discrete event system theory and mathematical programming, is presented. Reliability of signaling and safety equipment is investigated. Principles of European railway traffic management system are described and analyzed.
