Biomedical Imaging Instrumentation

Course Description

Overview of biomedical imaging modalities. Physics of medical imaging, image formation, imaging instrumentation. X-ray computed tomography (CT). Methods of image reconstruction (algebraic and back projection methods). Digital subtraction angiography (DSA). Scintigraphy. Gama cameras. Single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). Positron emission tomography (PET). Magnetic resonance imaging. Diagnostic ultrasound (B-, M-, Doppler effect, 3D, 4D). Thermography (infrared imaging). Electrical impedance tomography (EIT). Magnetic resonance electrical impedance tomography (MREIT).
