Modeling and Simulation-Selected Topics

Course Description

Introduction to queuing theory: Kendall notation, Little s law, single queue systems, simple queuing networks, operational laws. Experimental design: 2k, 2kr and 2k-p factorial designs. Output data analysis: confidence interval, terminating and steady-state simulations, multiple measures of performance. Comparing alternative system configurations: comparing two systems, multiple systems comparison. Variance-reduction techniques: common random numbers, antithetic and control variables, conditioning.
