Course Description

The course aims to give a wide overview of the information security field with emphasis towards understanding the information security threats and risks, properties and level of protection provides by security technologies. Through examples gain familiarity with the most common threats such as malware (incl. ransomware), denial of service attacks and social engineering; understand the defense mechanisms against such threats and their limitations; give an overview of the security-enhancing technologies, their usage and the properties provided; give an introduction to cryptographic algorithms including digital signatures and the TLS protocol; give an overview of technologies related to digital identity; give an overview of the blockchains and their applications; understand the challenges in the field of cybersecurity insurance.
