Third lab exercise will be held on Monday, 8 April 2024 at 08:00 AM (group L01) and Tuesday, 9 April 2024 at 08:00 AM (group L02) in computer classroom A304. Third lab exercise deals with simple AC circuits.

To get the Manual for Lab exercise 3 please go to osnove.tel.fer.hr (login -> Teaching materials -> Laboratory exercises). Before the exercise read the Lab 3 manual - there are no preparatory tasks this time.

During Lab exercise 3 you will connect a series RC circuit to a USB oscilloscope Digilent Analog Discovery 2 and then you will analyze the circuit on the computer using WaveForms software. After the exercise you will take a short first lab test through osnove.tel.fer.hr.

After you complete the Lab exercise 3 you need to upload your answers to Lab manual questions again through osnove.tel.fer.hr (login -> Laboratory exercises -> Lab exercise 3 - submit answers). For that you will have 7 days from the moment your lab attendance is recorded.

Information about the first lab test:

First lab test has 6 multiple choice type questions, each worth 0.5 points (3 points in total). There are no negative points! Test runs for 12 minutes and then it is automatically submitted and evaluated.

Topics of the 1st lab test cover lab exercises 1, 2 and 3:

  • basics of measuring current and voltage
  • Kirchhoff's Current Law
  • Kirchhoff's Voltage Law
  • real voltage source and real current source
  • determining phase shift between two sine waves
  • sinusoidal voltage and current and voltage and current phasors, simple AC circuits (RC and RL series)

Second lab exercise will be held on Wednesday, 3 April 2024 at 08:00 AM (group L01 - moved because of the holiday on Monday) and Tuesday, 2 April 2024 at 08:00 AM (group L02) in lab classrooms A309/A310

Second lab exercise deals with Kirchhoff's Laws and real voltage sources. To get the Manual for Lab exercise 2 please go to osnove.tel.fer.hr (login -> Teaching materials -> Laboratory exercises). Before the exercise read the Lab 2 manual and solve the preparatory task. Also, do not forget to upload your preparatory task solutions to osnove.tel.fer.hr (login -> Laboratory exercises -> Lab exercise 2 - submit answers).

After you complete the Lab exercise 2 you need to upload your answers to Lab manual questions again through osnove.tel.fer.hr (login -> Laboratory exercises -> Lab exercise 2 - submit answers). For that you will have 7 days from the moment your lab attendance is recorded.

On our course Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering you will have to do 9 lab exercises according to the schedule on FERWeb. Remember, you cannot pass our course if you do not complete all the exercises. There are two lab groups L01 (Mondays at 08:00 AM) and L02 (Tuesdays at 08:00 AM). You can check your designated lab group in FERWeb schedule or after login to osnove.tel.fer.hr.

First lab exercise will be held on Monday, 25 March 2024 at 08:00-09:00 AM in lab classrooms A309/A310 (group L01) and Tuesday, 26 March 2024 at 08:00-09:00 AM in lab classrooms A309/A310 (group L02).

First lab exercise deals with basics of voltage and current measurement and operating basic lab equipment (multimeter, voltage source, function generator and oscilloscope).

How to get lab manuals?
Go to osnove.tel.fer.hr (version in English), click on SIGN IN (FER) button (direct link). Login with your student ID and your password (initial password: fer). After login, click on the Teaching materials and then under Laboratory exercises you will see a manual for each lab exercise. Also, you can download there an additional short presentation about the 1st lab exercise.

How to prepare for lab exercise?
Read lab manual for the upcoming lab exercise and solve preparatory tasks if there are any. We will explain on the first lab exercise on Monday/Tuesday how to submit answers to preparatory tasks on osnove.tel.fer.hr (check the procedure here).

How many points can I get from the lab classes?
You will get 0 - 6 points based on your activity on the lab. Also, you will be able to solve three short lab tests. Each lab test is worth 3 points (6 multiple-choice questions, 0.5 points each, 12 minutes time limit), in total you can get 0 - 9 points form lab tests. You will solve these lab tests on lab exercises 3, 6 and 9. So, in total you can get 0 - 15 points from the lab classes. There are no thresholds for lab exercises scores, you only need to complete all the lab exercises.
