Eighth lab exercise will be held on Friday, 3 June 2022 at 07:30 AM in lab classrooms A309/A310. Because May 30 is public holiday in Croatia we had to move lab 8 to Friday. Eighth lab exercise deals with Thevenin's and Norton's theorem.

We remind you to read the Lab 8 manual and solve the preparatory task before the exercise. Also, do not forget to upload your preparatory task solutions to osnove.tel.fer.hr (login -> Laboratory exercises -> Lab exercise 8 - submit answers).

Third homework assignment deals with frequency response and methods for solving electrical networks. After you download your assignment you have 24 hours to submit your results. The results will be automatically evaluated and you can get a maximum of 1 point.

Sixth lab exercise will be held on Monday, 16 May 2022 at 08:30 AM in computer classroom A304. Lab exercise 6 deals with frequency response of series RLC circuits.

To get the Manual for Lab exercise 6 please go to osnove.tel.fer.hr (login -> Teaching materials -> Laboratory exercises). During Lab exercise 6 you will connect a series RLC circuit to a USB oscilloscope Digilent Analog Discovery 2 and then you will analyze the circuit on the computer using WaveForms software. At the end of the exercise you will take a short second lab test on the osnove.tel.fer.hr.

After you complete the Lab exercise 6 you need to upload your answers to Lab manual questions again through osnove.tel.fer.hr (login -> Laboratory exercises -> Lab exercise 6 - submit answers). For that you will have 7 days from the moment your lab attendance is recorded.

Information about the second lab test:

Second lab test has 6 multiple choice type questions, each worth 0.5 points (3 points in total). There are no negative points! Test runs for 12 minutes and then it is automatically submitted and evaluated. To take the test you will need to login to osnove.tel.fer.hr from one of the computers in computer classroom A304.

Topics of the 2nd lab test primarily cover lab exercises 4, 5 and 6:

  • series RLC circuit on different frequencies (lab 4 - 1 question)
  • superposition method (lab 5 - 2 questions)
  • quality factor in series RLC circuits (lab 4 and 6 - 1 question)
  • frequency response of series RLC circuits (lab 6 - 1 question)
  • additionally: measuring current and voltage in AC circuits (current and voltage divider - 1 question)

Before the exercise read the Lab 4 manual and solve the preparatory task (you need to calculate resonant frequency and the quality factor for the given series RLC circuit).   • choose the open lab exercise and click on the submit answers link
  • before the exercise you need to enter answers to the preparatory task from the Lab manual (if it is given)
  • after you complete the lab exercise you have 7 days (extended) from the moment your lab attendance was recorded to submit answers to questions about the lab experiments you did on the lab exercise

Lab activity points score will be partly based on the answers you have submitted.

On our course Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering you will have to do 9 lab exercises according to the schedule on FERWeb. Remember, you cannot pass our course if you do not complete all the exercises.

First lab exercise will be on Monday, 21 March 2022 at 08:30 AM in lab classrooms A309/A310. First lab exercise deals with basics of voltage and current measurement and operating lab equipment.

How to get lab manuals?
Go to osnove.tel.fer.hr (version in English), click on SIGN IN (FER) button (direct link). Login with your student ID and your password (initial password: fer). After login, click on the Teaching materials and then under Laboratory exercises you will see manuals for each lab exercise. Also, you can download there an additional short presentation about the 1st lab exercise.

 

How to prepare for lab exercise?
Read lab manual for the upcoming lab exercise and solve preparatory tasks if there are any. We will explain on the first lab exercise on Monday how to submit answers to preparatory tasks and questions about the lab exercise.

 

How many points can I get on lab exercises?
You will get 0 - 6 points based on your activity on the lab. Also, you will be able to solve three short lab tests. Each lab test is worth 3 points (6 multiple-choice questions, 0.5 points each, 12 minutes time limit), in total you can get 0 - 9 points form lab tests. You will solve these lab tests on lab exercises 3, 6 and 9. There are no thresholds for the scores on the lab exercises, you only need to complete all the lab exercises.

Important:
Results will be evaluated automatically - the system will accept results that are in the ±5% range from the correct results.
