Course Description
E-learning systems: definition, functionality, actors, learning objects, standards, architecture. Classes of e-learning systems: synchronous and asynchronous. Intelligent tutoring systems (ITSs): knowledge representation, ontologies, domain knowledge, learning and teaching scenarios, student modeling, actor interface. Hypermedia authoring shells and tools for ITS design: on-site and Web based. 2-sigma problem and pedagogical paradigm for e-learning systems. E-learning systems evaluation.
