Croatian in Engineering Practice

Course Description

The basic goal of the course is to learn the orthographic, morphological and syntactical norm of the standard Croatian language and to educe oral and written skills within the engineering profession. Special attention will be paid to the basic orthographic principles, morphological system and syntax rules, and particularly to the language and communication competence within the engineering profession.

General Competencies

Students will be able to: - develop, extend, intensify and apply the knowledge of all the normative levels of the Croatian standard language, - express adequately in all communicative situations and in a variety of written forms of all functional styles of Croatian standard languages, - solve independently the general language enquiries of Croatian standard language and the terminological problems in engineering profession.

Learning Outcomes

  1. acquire the ortographic and grammatical norms of Croatian standard language at a higher academic level
  2. express adequately at all functional styles of the Croatian standard language
  3. develop and improve spoken and written expression in the profession
  4. acquire the basic principles of a technical language
  5. improve the general language and professional principles in the writing of technical papers
  6. define, describe and apply the general principles of terminology in engineering profession
  7. solve independently the general language and terminological enquiries in engineering profession
  8. select adequately the general language and terminological solutions in the technical texts at the Croatian standard language

Forms of Teaching

Lectures

Lectures are organized in two cycles. The first cycle includes 7 weeks of lectures (2 hours per week) and interexam, a second cycle includes 6 weeks of lectures (2 hours per week) and final exam.
