Learning Outcomes

  1. distinguish sound and vibration indicators based on sound pressure, intensity and power levels and vibration levels
  2. explain the origin of mechanical vibrations and basic principles of their abatement
  3. calculate measures for indoor and outdoor noise protection
  4. operate instruments for measuring noise and vibration levels
  5. use noise maps and other indicators for estimating imission levels and evaluating soundscapes
  6. apply noise and vibration protection laws and regulations for determining their influence on people

Forms of Teaching

Lectures

Lectures are held in 2 terms, 3 hours per week. Short exams and solving of numerical examples will be integrated into the lectures.

Independent assignments

Individual work for selected topic from the field of the whole course

Laboratory

6 laboratory exercises will be organized, 2 hours each, that follow the contents of the lectures.
