The Advisory Board typically meets twice a year, with additional thematic consultations and electronic meetings convened by the Dean as needed. Board members act as critical friends, advocates, and ambassadors for the Faculty, serving in these roles without financial compensation.

Mario Ančić began his professional journey as a tennis player, reaching a career-high singles ranking of world No. 7 in 2006 and contributing to Croatia’s Davis Cup victory in 2005. While pursuing his athletic career, he also earned a law degree from the University of Split in 2008, where he wrote his thesis on the legal foundations and organisation of the ATP Tour. He later completed his J.D. at Columbia Law School.
Mario Ančić is currently a Vice President at One Equity Partners (OEP) in New York, a role he has held since 2018. Before joining OEP, he worked in the investment banking division of Credit Suisse in New York, focusing on transactions across the industrial, technology, and consumer sectors. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Infobip, Nexion, Ballymore, and PGW Auto Glass.
Dragan Bagić is a full professor at the Department of Sociology, University of Zagreb Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. His research interests include political sociology, industrial relations, migration studies, and social research methodology. Professor Bagić has extensive experience in applied social research, with a particular focus on public opinion polling. He has successfully led numerous EU-funded development and infrastructure projects. Over the past decade, alongside his research and teaching responsibilities, he has been actively involved in initiatives to strengthen Croatia’s academic system.
Professor Bagić has held various administrative roles within the Faculty and is currently a member of several academic bodies, including the Senate of the University of Zagreb, the National Council for Higher Education, Science and Technological Development, and the National Council for Human Resources Development. Additionally, he is a member of the Small Council of the Independent Union of Science and Higher Education and serves as Croatia’s national coordinator for the European Social Survey (ESS-ERIC). Professor Bagić is also a recipient of the Croatian National Science Award.
Josip Česić is the Co-Founder and CEO of Gideon, a leading company in robotics and artificial intelligence. By deploying AI-powered robots, Gideon is transforming supply chains and addressing one of the most challenging logistics tasks: the autonomous loading and unloading of truck trailers. Mr. Česić holds a PhD in autonomy technologies from the University of Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, with part of his studies completed at the University of Waterloo in Canada.
Mr. Česić has received multiple awards, including the Dean’s Award, Special Dean’s Award, Rector’s Award, Special Rector’s Award, and the Silver Plaque in recognition of his exceptional doctoral thesis. In addition to holding several patents, he has published over 20 research papers on robotics and autonomous systems. Mr. Česić also serves on the FER Alumni Board.
Izabel Jelenić is the Co-Founder and Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of Infobip, a global cloud communications platform he co-founded in 2006. He graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, and his technical knowledge and skills have been pivotal in Infobip’s rise to one of the world’s leading communication platforms. As CTO, Mr. Jelenić leads and directs Infobip’s development team, which is dedicated to integrating cutting-edge technology and creating innovative solutions.
Mr. Jelenić plays an active role in shaping client experiences and tackling complex technical challenges in the telecom industry. His work is dynamic and fulfilling, allowing him to remain hands-on in development, stay up-to-date with industry trends, and implement innovative solutions across the Infobip platform. Beyond his role at Infobip, Mr. Jelenić is a prominent figure in the tech community and is highly regarded in the telecommunications industry.
Mirko Kovač is a full professor at Imperial College London and leads the Laboratory of Sustainability Robotics at the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa) in Zürich, as well as at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). His research group focuses on developing innovative mobile robots for distributed sensing and autonomous manufacturing in complex natural environments.
Before his appointment in London, Professor Kovač was a postdoctoral researcher at Harvard University and earned his PhD at EPFL. Since 2006, he has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers in leading conferences and journals, won several best paper awards, and delivered more than 100 keynote and invited lectures. He also serves as an advisor to governments, investment funds, and industry on robotics opportunities.
Mladen Pejković is a Senior Executive Director at Atlantic Group. He was born in Zagreb, where he also completed his studies, graduating from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing. He has furthered his education through executive programmes at INSEAD, Harvard Business School, and the Chicago Booth School of Business. After several years as a mobile communications expert, he transitioned into management, building an international career that includes roles as CEO of Vipnet (now A1 Croatia), CEO of Vip Operator (now A1 Macedonia), member of the Management Board at Velcom (now A1 Belarus), and Chief Development Officer for Technology at Telekom Austria Group.
In addition to his business career, Mr. Pejković is actively involved in higher education and technological advancement. He currently serves as head of the FER Alumni Board and is a member of the National Council for Science, Higher Education and Technological Development. He is also a member of the Scientific Council for Technological Development at the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (HAZU) and served as Chair of the University of Rijeka Council until recently.
