The tool
UComp is first prototype tool developed in DICES project. Primary purpose of the tool is to provide a way for uniform treatment of hardware and software components while building systems. In UComp users can develope whole embedded system by connecting together instances of components, without having to take into account if the components are hardware devices or realized using software. For communication with hardware devices or remote software components UComp leverages UPnP technology. Ucomp provides graphical environment for developing systems and browsing components available in component repository and on the network.
Publications
Based on the UComp tool we have written two publications:
- Luka Lednicki, Jan Carlson, Mario Zagar, Uniform treatment of hardware- and software components, 8th Conference on Software Engineering Research and Practice in Sweden (SERPS'08), Karlskrona, Sweden, November, 2008
- Luka Lednicki, Ana Petricic, Mario Zagar, A Component-Based Technology for Hardware and Software Components, 35th Euromicro Conference on Software Engineering and Advanced Applications (SEAA), IEEE, Pataras, Greece, August, 2009
