Ante Đerek

 

Ante Đerek is an associate professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb, specializing in applying formal methods to computer security, privacy, and cryptography. He earned his PhD in Computer Science from Stanford University in 2007, where he was one of the developers of Protocol Composition Logic. From 2006 to 2012, Dr. Đerek worked as a research engineer in the application security group at Google Inc. In 2014, he received the prestigious NEWFELPRO fellowship for a two-year project in computer security and privacy and was honored with the "Faust Vrančić" National Award for Technical Culture. His current research encompasses advancing the foundational scope of symbolic formal analysis tools, and applying such tools and methods to real-world systems, including identity systems and trusted execution environments. His teaching duties at FER include courses on computer security and cryptography.

 

 

 
Darko Huljenić

 

Darko Huljenić spent more than 40 years in the industry as being part of technical and management teams and leading different organisational units. Whole working career is related to the ICT industry, especially with applied research in that domain. Parallel with the work in the industry, for more than 20 years he is teaching at the University. He holds diploma, master and doctoral degree from Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing University of Zagreb from 1982, 1989, and 2001 respectively. He is elected as the adjunct professor and teaches undergraduate, graduate, doctoral and specialist study at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing. He established a broad network for cooperation between industry and academia and led and participated in many collaborative local and EU based projects in the R&D&I domain based on ICT technology. He has published conference, and journal articles and holds accepted patents. He mentored students for diploma and doctoral thesis. He is part of organization committees for scientific conferences and serves as reviewer for journals and conference papers. He is member of IEEE and ACM associations.​​​​​​

 

 
Dorothy Grandia

 

Dorothy Grandia is the Associate Director of Programming at the Erasmus Centre for Women and Organisations/Rotterdam School of Management. An expert in the embodiment of confidence and engagement techniques, she is also an executive coach in leadership communication at INSEAD since 2016 and for several years coached expat managers in cross-cultural communication at both Unilever and Heineken. Since 2005, she has helped clients working primarily in STEM industry contexts to recognize and exploit the difference between objective and subjective decision-making. As of 2017, she is also Director of Media and Communication for the University of Cologne Department of Information Systems for a Sustainable Society, where she develops communication and programming that clarifies the route to and value of automated decision making support and market incentives for electricity demand flexibility during the energy transition. Her interest in communication as a tool of influence on business and policy decision-making evolved out of early career experience in the United States as a legislative aide in the political system of the State of Texas. She also holds a BA in Asian Studies from the University of Texas at Austin.

 

 
Dubravko Sabolić

 

Dubravko Sabolić was born in Zagreb, Croatia, in 1969. He earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Zagreb in 2004 and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Split in 2016. He works at the Croatian Transmission System Operator, Ltd., and concurrently serves as an adjunct full professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb.

Hendrik Sebastiaan (Drikus) Kriek

 

Prof. Drikus Kriek is director of IEDC Team Development Institute, former Director of the Leadership Development Centre, and Associate-Professor in HR Management at the Wits Business School of the University of the Witwatersrand. Previously he had been Associate-Professor in Organisational Behaviour and Leadership at the Graduate School of Business Leadership (SBL) of the University of South Africa, and is former Head of the Strategy and Leadership Area of the school. He received his MA (Clin Psych) and MBA degrees both cum laude from the Rand Afrikaans University and the University of Stellenbosch respectively. Prof Kriek received his Doctorate from the University of Pretoria and is a graduate from Yale University. He spent his Sabbatical leave at the Integral Leadership Centre (Wilber-based) of the Graduate School of Management of The University of Western Australia. His research, publications and teaching focus mainly on teambuilding, leadership and change management. He has published in popular and accredited academic journals and has presented his research to local and international forums. He was named Researcher of the Year for 2006/7 at the SBL, and his books are all related to teams and teaming. His article on African Change leaders (with Prof Stella Nkomo) has been awarded the Best Paper of 2011 of the Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology (one of the top five in the field).

 

 
Igor Magdalenić

 

Igor Magdalenić is lecturer in Finance and Management at IEDC-Bled School of Management. He is Director of DoceoFinance, a training and consultancy company located in Brussels with expertise in finance and business strategy. In his consultancy role, he currently acts as a Business Advisor at UniWeb, a SME specialised in the development of innovative digital solutions for healthcare and life sciences. Previously, Igor worked more than 10 years for Essenscia, an umbrella organisation representing more than 700 chemicals and life sciences companies in Belgium. As Chief Economist and member of the management board, he was invited as a speaker at numerous conferences and seminars to share his view on economic related matters. In the early 2000s, he was appointed Director of BACD, the Belgian Association of Chemical Distributors. For several years, he worked at Air Products and Chemicals, a worldwide supplier of industrial gases and equipment, as a Financial Analyst for the Bulk and Cylinder businesses supporting top management in key business decisions.Igor completed a Master Degree in Economics at Free University of Brussels with a specialisation in microeconomics. He also followed the Senn Delaney Leadership program. Igor speaks French, Dutch, English, Croatian and is learning Slovenian.

 

 
Marin Vuković

 

Marin Vuković is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb, Croatia (UNIZG-FER). He has been employed at the Department of Telecommunications at UNIZG-FER since October 2006 in the position of Research Associate. He finished his PhD studies in 2011 at the UNIZG-FER. Marin Vuković has co-authored over 70 journal and conference papers. His h-index is 10 and his papers currently have more than 400 citations. He actively participated in panels, round tables and held invited lectures with the goal of popularization of science and profession. He is a co-author of the patent at the Croatian Institute for Intellectual Property. During his professional career, Marin Vuković has participated in scientific projects financed by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports of the Republic of Croatia, Croatian Science Foundation, projects financed from the EU funds, Horizon projects as well as many industrial projects. Marin Vuković is a deputy director of “Laboratory for Security and Privacy (SPL)” and “Laboratory for Assistive Technology and Alternative and Augmentative Communication (ICT-AAC)” at UNIZG-FER. He is a senior member of IEEE.

 

 
Mario Kušek

 

Mario Kušek is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb, Croatia. He has been employed at the Department of Telecommunications at FER since 1997. He obtained his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from UNIZG-FER in 2005. His research interests include distributed systems, software agents, self-organizing systems, Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications, and the Internet of Things (IoT). Mario Kušek has co-authored over 110 journal and conference papers in these areas. He has participated in numerous scientific and industrial projects, including those funded by the Croatian Science Foundation, EU COST actions, Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe, and bilateral collaborations. He serves as the program co-chair of the KES AMSTA conference and general co-chair of the ConTEL conference. Mario Kušek is a member of IEEE and KES International. He previously served as the Chair of the IEEE ComSoc Croatia Chapter, and different roles in the IEEE Croatia Section, and was a member of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI).

 

 

 
Marius Claudy

 

Dr. Marius Claudy is an Associate Professor in Marketing at University College Dublin, College of Business. He earned his Ph.D. in Marketing from Technological University Dublin, focusing on consumer resistance to green product innovation. His research explores the motivations and cognitions that drive consumer acceptance of innovations. He holds an MSc in International Strategy and Economics from the University of St Andrews and a B.A. in Staatswissenschaften (Political Economy) from the University of Erfurt. Dr. Claudy has held academic positions as a Visiting Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia’s Sauder Business School and as an Assistant Professor in Marketing at University College Dublin. He has also been an Associate Researcher at the Dublin Energy Lab and a Postdoctoral Researcher at Dublin City University’s Business School. His work contributes to the intersection of marketing, innovation, and consumer behavior, offering valuable insights into sustainable product adoption. He has published several research articles and has received many awards for his work.

 

 
Miquel Llado

 

Miquel Llado is a Senior Lecturer at IESE Business School and Visiting professor at IEDC Bled School of Management-Slovenia and also other universities such as the University Sheffield, AESE Business School-Portugal and WU Vienna University Executive Academy. He has delivered Strategy & Leadership sessions to more than 40 world-known organizations, and has been a Guest Speaker 102 times to in 115 radio and 3 TV programs. ​He is an Advisor to CEOs and Executive Teams on Strategy Formulation & Implementation, with experience in 20 different sectors. His extensive executive background highlightings Group President & CEO of Sara Lee Bakery Europe (2005-2007), CEO of Sara Lee Bakery Spain & Portugal (2001-2007), VP Marketing & Sales in Spain at Bimbo/The Earthgrains Company (1996-2000), VP New Business at PepsiCo Foods Spain, Director of Sales at Frito Lay Intl. (China project), Sales Designate at Frito Lay US, several Marketing & Sales management positions in PepsiCo Foods in Spain, and Marketing Product Manager at Gallina Blanca (Agrolimen Group). He is a Staff Assistant at KPMG, and a former Member of the Board of Directors at Plásticos Tatay, Berlys and Grupo Panasa. Miquel llado was elected Spain’s Best Executive year 2000, by the Spain’s Business Association AED (Asociación Española de Directivos).

 

 
Nenad Filipović

 

Dr. Nenad Filipović is, since 1991, a lecturer, MBA Project Director and Executive Education Director of the IEDC. He graduated in Electrical Engineering from the University of Zagreb, where he also received his MSc in Computer Science. He obtained his Ph.D. in Management from Free University of Amsterdam. He also completed the Stanford Executive Program at Graduate School of Business, Stanford University, as well as Harvard University’s “Central and East European Teachers Program”. Dr. Filipović started his professional career as the assistant lecturer in Computer Science at the University of Zagreb. After three years, he joined “Rade Končar” Group. He was head of R&D in the Control Systems Division, director for worldwide sales of information technology, and Senior Group Vice-President in charge of R&D and Group restructuring. Dr. Filipović teaches and advises in the area General Management. He keeps close contact with business practices through his work, as Director of IEDC EMBA Projects, as well as his advisory services to a number of international companies. He has been a personal mentor to more than forty CEOs in Central Europe. He is the author or co-author of 7 books and more than thirty case studies. Dr. Filipović has been a visiting faculty of a number of business schools in Europe and North America.

 

 
Pierre Casse

 

Dr. Pierre Casse is the Leadership Chair at IEDC. He has a PhD in Business Administration, spent 5 years in Africa as a sociologist, 18 years with various International organizations (OECD, FAO, World Bank), and has been a Business School Professor in IMD (Switzerland), Kellogg (Chicago), Solvay (Brussels) and IEDC (Slovenia). Until June 2017, he was a visiting Professor at the IAE University Aix-en-Provence (France), as well as at the Kellogg School of Management (Chicago). He held the “Suez Chair of Leadership” at the Solvay Business School (ULB-Brussels) from 2004 to 2006. He is the “Dean Emeritus” of the Berlin School of Creative Leadership (Steinbeis University-Germany). His areas of expertise include Organizational Behaviour, the Global Market and the Cultural Differences, International Negotiations and Strategic Leadership. Professor Casse has published more than 10 books in the areas of multicultural management, leadership, intercultural negotiations, and philosophy and business among them, The Making of Culture (2003), The One-hour Negotiator (2005), Philosophy for Creative Leadership (2007), The Philosophical Leaders (2009), Challenging Leadership (2012), Testing Leadership (2014), Learning Leadership (2015), Leadership Without Concessions (2016),  Negotiation for all (2017) and Handy Notes for the busy leaders (2018). He serves as a consultant to many multinational companies and is the CEO of “Business Innovation Network” (BIN-Switzerland).

 

 
Vedran Podobnik

 

Vedran Podobnik, full professor, Department of Telecommunications at FER, leads a global team of business professionals, strategists and technologists solving complex customer challenges with innovative solutions based on AI, cloud and sustainability at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. With over 18 years of international experience as a technology leader, consultant and university professor, Vedran brings a creative, pragmatic and data-driven approach to driving sustainable change. He obtained his PhD at Faculty of Electrical engineering and Computing, and Masters at Cambridge Judge Business School. Throughout his career, Vedran has led multi-year IT development and innovation projects, successfully delivering large-scale international programs. His versatile background spans private and public organisations across various sectors, where he managed $800M consulting service PnLs, propelling double-digit top-line growth and enhancing business profitability. He is a digital transformation thought leader, authoring over 120 academic and professional papers in leading international journals and conferences. He was a speaker and panellist at dozens of technology events. Vedran is the recipient of prestigious international awards for innovation with AI/ML, scientific breakthroughs, educational work and project management.

 

 
Žarko Janić

 

Žarko Janić obtained his PhD in Electrical Engineering in 2008 at Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb. He worked from 2004 to 2008 in Končar Electrical Engineering Institute as researcher. His major interests are electromagnetic phenomena in transformers, especially stray losses and FEM calculations. From 2008 to 2012 he was heading the R&D department of Končar Power Transformers (Joint venture of Siemens Energy and Končar). From 2012 up to 2018 he was responsible for Research within the Large Power Transformer segment in Transformers Business Unit of Siemens. Currently he is heading Operational Excellence in the Cluster Large Power Transformers in Siemens Energy. He has been a lecturer at the Transformer Specialist Study at the University in Zagreb on the course Magnetic field and losses in transformers since 2010, and has been lecturing Management in engineering on the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing at University in Zagreb since 2012. As of 2021, he is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University in Zagreb, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing.

 

 

 
Željka Car

 

Željka Car is a full professor at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER). She is Head of the Department of Telecommunications, and Head of the research Laboratory for Assistive Technologies and Alternative and Augmentative Communication. Her scientific interests include the application of new technologies for inclusive communication and education of people with disabilities, and project management processes. She has participated in scientific and technological projects funded by the European Union and UNICEF and has led a number of multidisciplinary projects with industrial and state partners. She participates in the undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate specialist study "Project Management" and the PhD study at FER. Within the University of Zagreb, she participates in the undergraduate studies of military engineering at the Croatian Military Academy. As part of inter-university cooperation, she participates in graduate studies in Business Computing at the University of Dubrovnik. She is the author of numerous scientific articles published in international journals and at scientific conferences, as well as book chapters, university textbooks and professional papers. She is one of the founders of the Association for Project Management PMI, Zagreb, Croatia.
