FER Global Connect is an online event designed for former students of FER who work, study, and live abroad, connecting them through an international network of six alumni HUBs aimed at fostering networking and career development opportunities.

As part of the event, an online panel discussion titled "Technological Trends in Croatian Science and Industry", organized by the alumni international working group, will take place on March 20, 2025, at 5 PM (CET). The panel will bring together leading experts who, through their research, entrepreneurial ventures, and leadership, are shaping the technological future of Croatia.

Innovations Driving Croatia Forward

In recent years, Croatia has made remarkable technological advancements, strengthening its position on the global innovation map. The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER) is at the forefront of semiconductor industry development, collaborating with Belgium’s imec, a leading research institute for nanoelectronics, through the CROCCS project. FER has also launched Europe’s first Center of Excellence in Maritime Robotics the MARBLE project, fostering research and application of autonomous systems in industry and sustainable blue economy initiatives.

Beyond academic initiatives, Croatia's startup ecosystem is rapidly growing, supported in part by the efforts of FER’s Innovation Center Nikola Tesla (ICENT). Its specialized Nuqleus program has already contributed to the creation of successful startups based on advanced technologies.

Croatian Tech Unicorns and Global Success

Croatia is home to high-tech companies that successfully compete in the global market. Infobip and Rimac Group have both achieved unicorn status, while Photomath, a Croatian AI startup that developed a camera-based app for solving mathematical problems, has become one of the most widely used educational solutions in the world—an achievement recognized by Google, which recently acquired it. At the same time, Rimac Group continues to push the boundaries of the automotive industry, developing electric hypercars and battery systems for some of the world’s most renowned brands, including Porsche and Bugatti.

FER Global Connect je online događanje namijenjeno bivšim studentima Fakulteta koji rade, studiraju i žive u inozemstvu te se povezuju putem međunarodne mreže šest alumni HUB-ova, s ciljem umrežavanja i razvoja karijernih prilika.

U sklopu događanja održat će se online panel rasprava pod nazivom „Tehnološki trendovi u hrvatskoj znanosti i industriji“, u organizaciji alumni radne skupine za inozemstvo. Panel će se održati 20. ožujka 2025. godine u 17 sati (CET) te će okupiti vodeće stručnjake koji svojim istraživačkim, poduzetničkim i liderskim angažmanom oblikuju tehnološku budućnost Hrvatske.

Inovacije koje pokreću Hrvatsku

Hrvatska posljednjih godina ostvaruje iznimne tehnološke iskorake i jača svoju poziciju na globalnoj mapi inovacija. Fakultet elektrotehnike i računarstva (FER) predvodi u razvoju industrije poluvodiča, surađujući s belgijskim imec-om, vodećim istraživačkim institutom za nanoelektroniku, putem projekta CROCCS. FER je također pokrenuo prvi europski centar izvrsnosti u pomorskoj robotici - projekt MARBLE, potičući istraživanja autonomnih sustava u industriji i održivom plavom gospodarstvu.

Osim akademskih inicijativa, hrvatski startup ekosustav bilježi snažan rast kojem doprinosi i rad FER-ovog Inovacijskog centra Nikola Tesla (ICENT). Njegov specijalizirani program Nuqleus već je pomogao stvaranju uspješnih startupova temeljenih na naprednim tehnologijama.

Hrvatski tehnološki jednorozi i globalni uspjeh

Hrvatska je dom uspješnih visokotehnoloških poduzeća koja konkuriraju na svjetskom tržištu. Infobip i Rimac Grupa stekli su status jednoroga, dok je Photomath, hrvatski AI startup koji je razvio aplikaciju za rješavanje matematičkih zadataka pomoću kamere, postao jedno od najkorištenijih obrazovnih rješenja na svijetu. To je prepoznao i Google, koji ga je nedavno kupio. Rimac Grupa u isto vrijeme nastavlja pomicanje granica u automobilskoj industriji, razvijajući električne hiperautomobile i baterijske sustave za neke od najpoznatijih svjetskih brendova, uključujući Porsche i Bugatti.
