Additional Info about Zagreb and FER

Virtual walk through FER
If you have not yet visited "Virtual walk through FER" you still can at the address: http://www.srk.fer.hr/vfer/. Sorry about the Croatian as the only available language, but if someone wants to translate it into Swedish we can find someone that will translate it into English :) Pictures on that site are photographed in 1999/2000 when the room that were are in way just opened :) You can see it here:

http://www.srk.fer.hr/VirtualFER/vfer.cgi?map=PIC00079&sir=640&vis=480&rez=0&str=0

During that time we got computers on the table and some other fancy stuff, but on this picture you can see people still trying to make it work for the very first time.

Virtual walk through Zagreb
The same type of virtual walk is available if you would like to visit Zagreb. In order to do so visit the following page: http://www.voyager.hr/zvw/ (this one is in English). There you can visit the centre of Zagreb. There are few recommended places but they don't say why are they important. There are all located in the centre of the Zagreb (although you can't go to the main square - don't know why :) ).

Spomenik P.Preradovića - This one is located on one of the prettiest squares in Zagreb. Petar Preradović was a famous Croatian poet.

Kino Europa / Kino Zagreb - two of the most famous cinemas in Zagreb. There are better and bigger ones now but these are still most famous. (good seats :) )

Slastičarna Vincek - ice cream and cake shop :) One of the best in Zagreb. It's very famous and it's not very expensive. The problem is that there is sometimes a long line in front of it (not available on the picture :) ). If you visit Zagreb and you would like to eat a cake or ice cream you must go here.

Ulaz u Oktogon - you can go through this long corridor with shops if you want to use the shortcut. But usually you just stop to see something in one of the shops so it's not a very good shortcut :)

Uspinjača - funicular railway (at least I hope this is the correct English term :) ). One of the tourist attractions. You can use this little train to go to the upper part of the town (yes, you could just use stairs and be much faster, but why :) ). There is a nice view on the city. Very romantic, especially in the evening (recommendations if you're planning to come here with your girlfriend / boyfriend / wife / husband / ...).

360 degrees pictures of Zagreb
If these pictures are still not enough you can visit this page also: http://www.zg360.com/ this one is also in Croatian (sorry no chance to translate this one :) ). Here you can view 360 degrees pictures that were made in the Zagreb.

And because this page is also in Croatian here is an explanation what is on the pictures :)
(I will list only the important links, other ones are just "about", "introduction" and so on.

Trg Nikole Šubića Zrinskog - This square is very near the main railway station and if you are planning to visit Zagreb using the railway it is very likely that you will see it. It has lots of grass and it's very nice (romantic :) ).

Strosmayerovo šetalište - you will come here if you use the funicular railway. Here you can see the view of Zagreb during day and during the evening :).

Trg kralja Tomislava - named after first Croatian king. If you come in Zagreb using the railway this is the first square that you will see in Zagreb. If you turn 180 degrees in the picture you can see the Railway station (big pink building). In front of it (on the picture) is the sculpture of the king Tomislav.

Zdenac života - HNK - Croatia's national theatre (HNK) is quite old and very pretty you can see it if you turn 180 degrees. The first picture shows Fountain of well which is done by one of the most known Croatia's sculptors. Behind the well you can see the building of the Law faculty in Zagreb. Our Rector is located here :) The funny thing about this square is that all buildings are done in different style (although for a non architect like me they all look same - nice, old buildings :) ).

Zvjezdarnica - observatory. Here you can come and watch stars (in the evening) using a quite large telescope (you can see one part of it in the picture).

Opatička ulica - Ilirski trg - example of one of the streets in the old part of the town (Upper town). I really don't know why this part of the street and why this street, but... :)
