Description:

Overview of multimedia (MM) related problems and solutions and analysis of resource requirements. Basic and advanced data compression algorithms. Human visual system. Multimedia standards JPEG, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, MPEG-7. Comparison of standard and advanced execution of multimedia algorithms. Detailed analisys: multimedia ASICs, MM coprocessors, MM processors and MM extensions. System architecture, processor selection and instruction execution examples.
