Course Description

Introduction to transmission system: AC and DC systems. Flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS): voltage regulation, power flow control, combined FACTS, control of flexible devices in the power system, simulation of power systems with FACTS. High voltage direct current (HVDC) systems: types of HVDC systems, control of HVDC, simulation of AC/DC power systems, future applications of HVDC. Transmission system security. Bulk power transmission. Large scale integration of renewable energy sources.
